Motor Insurance for Hong Kong Private Cars Entering Guangdong using the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge

Your Highway to a Smooth Drive in Guangdong

Hurray! Thanks to the launch of the “Quota-free scheme for Hong Kong private cars travelling to Guangdong via the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge (‘HZMB’)”, you can now drive your car from Hong Kong to Guangdong via HZMB without quota limits, nor a Mainland Licence Plate (粵港車牌)*. But there is one thing that’s still a must: the right motor insurance.

Compulsory Insurance with up to RMB200,000 3rd Party Coverage

To drive your car to Guangdong through HZMB, you are required to take out a valid statutory motor insurance. The HZMB Hong Kong Cross Border Motor Vehicle Mainland Compulsory Insurance under Unilateral Recognition (‘Compulsory Insurance’), now offered by AXA, is one such insurance designed to meet Mainland’s regulatory requirements in full compliance. Covering mandatory 3rd party liability with up to RMB200,000 per accident, the Compulsory Insurance makes a worry-free journey possible whether you are visiting relatives in Guangzhou, or enjoying shopping in Dongguan.

Supplementary Insurance with up to RMB2,000,000 for 3rd Party Liability

While modern roads and comprehensive tunnel network make driving in Guangdong a delightful experience, you may still wish to improve your coverage for greater peace of mind. In this case, you can opt to take out the HZMB Hong Kong Cross Border Motor Vehicle Supplementary Insurance(‘Supplementary Insurance’) – the Third Party Liability Insurance of Motor Vehicles, on top of your Compulsory Insurance to boost up your coverage to RMB2,000,000 for extra security at critical moments.

Supplementary Insurance with up to RMB10,000 per person for drivers and passengers

To better protect both yourself and your passengers, you can further supplement your Compulsory Insurance coverage with the Supplementary Insurance Liability Insurance for Persons Onboard Motor Vehicles. This way, everyone onboard would be able to explore Guangdong without worries.
