AXA Hong Kong launches the first cancer and stroke therapy insurance plan in town

As one of the leading health protection providers, AXA Hong Kong launches the “Cancer And Stroke Therapy Insurance” and “Cancer Therapy Insurance II” to provide customers with comprehensive coverage for cancer and stroke, helping to ease their burdens during different stages of the healing journey.

The “Cancer And Stroke Therapy Insurance” is the first insurance plan in Hong Kong to offer comprehensive reimbursement for cancer and stroke treatments*. The benefit limit per covered illness can reach up to HK$2.5 million, and the maximum lifetime limit is HK$12.5 million. Reimbursement with such a high benefit limit helps customers alleviate their financial burdens, enabling them to focus on their healing journey.

Ms. Bonnie Lui, Chief Life and Product Proposition Officer, AXA Hong Kong, said, “Cancer and stroke are two common critical illnesses that can strike us at any time. In Hong Kong, 1 in 4 men and 1 in 5 women may develop cancer before age 75#. Aside from cancer, stroke also has a high chance of recurrence^ and may leave customers with high post-hospitalisation expenses for various treatments. AXA Hong Kong therefore launches the new ‘Cancer And Stroke Therapy Insurance’ to address the protection gap that customers face in terms of critical illnesses and huge medical expenses, offering them peace of mind.”

To support customers coping with long cancer and stroke treatments and to mitigate the substantial financial burden incurred by post-hospitisation therapies as well as possible recurrence of cancer and stoke, the “Cancer And Stroke Therapy Insurance” covers a wide range of medical costs from different stages of the healing journey. The comprehensive policy covers charges for computerised tomography commonly used in the diagnostics; costs of surgical treatments and targeted therapies during the treatment stage; and physical examinations and laboratory tests carried out in the monitoring stage. What is more, costs for additional care meeting the customers’ special needs such as Chinese herbalist consultations, physiotherapy and psychological counselling are also covered.

Additional features of the “Cancer And Stroke Therapy Insurance” include:

  • Covers all stages of cancer (including carcinoma-in-situ, early stage cancer and cancer) and stroke;
  • Available as a standalone basic plan or as a supplement attached to AXA’s other basic plans;
  • Offers two benefit levels to best suit one’s personal needs and budget; and
  • Guaranteed renewal with protection up to age 100 of the insured.

AXA Hong Kong also launches the “Cancer Therapy Insurance II”, an enhanced version of its “Cancer Therapy Insurance”. The benefit limit per covered cancer and the maximum lifetime limit have been raised to HK$2.5 million and HK$7.5 million, respectively. The enhanced version also provides additional benefits covering hospitalisation and surgery, complementary therapy such as chiropractic therapy, art therapy as well as the purchase and rental of medical appliances, etc.

From now to 28 August 2016, successful applicants of the basic plan or supplement of the “Cancer And Stroke Therapy Insurance” or the “Cancer Therapy Insurance II” will be eligible for a one-month premium waiver.
