AXA Hong Kong fully upgrades critical illness protection and offers “Golden 20 Enhanced Protection” Programme

Cancer is the number one killer disease in Hong Kong [1] and accounts for over 80% of critical illness insurance claims [2]. However, with rapid advancements in medical technology, critical illnesses and their potential risk factors can be identified at an earlier stage through medical check-ups or DNA testing, followed by timely treatment. As a trusted partner to its customers along their life journey, AXA Hong Kong has enhanced its flagship critical illness plans “HealthVital II Major Illness Plan”, “HealthSelect II Major Illness Plan” and their respective supplements to give customers extra peace of mind through every stage of their recovery, from prevention to treatment and rehabilitation.

“Medical technology is constantly evolving. With cancer being the number one killer disease in Hong Kong, early detection and appropriate treatment are crucial to alleviate patients’ suffering and achieve a full recovery. We believe that the earlier the treatment, the better the chance of returning to health. To that end we have enhanced both our ‘HealthVital II Major Illness Plan’ and ‘HealthSelect II Major Illness Plan’, not only improving coverage of major illnesses, but also strengthening protection against minor illnesses. Furthermore, coverage for carcinoma-in-situ has been expanded to all organs [3], resulting in the most comprehensive protection in the market.” Ms. Bonnie Lui, Chief Life Product & Proposition Officer, AXA Hong Kong.

Fully upgraded critical illness protection

Advancements in medical technology have improved the mortality rate for patients suffering from critical illnesses. However, recurrence is a risk for all three of the most common critical illnesses in Hong Kong, namely cancer, heart attack and stroke. In the past, a full recovery from cancer was required before a second cancer claim could be made, but the brand new Multiple Benefit (Enhancer) Supplement means cancer patients can now make their second cancer claim after a three-year waiting period, even if they are not yet recovered [4]. The Multiple Benefit (Enhancer) Supplement also enables multiple claims for heart attack and stroke, giving additional peace of mind for customers in the face of battling these serious health issues.

“Golden 20 Enhanced Protection” Programme

AXA Hong Kong understands that there are 20 years of life when substantial protection is most crucial to customers. These two decades might see them start a family of their own, make strides in their career, or need to provide extra support for their elderly parents. Therefore, AXA Hong Kong is now offering the “Golden 20 Enhanced Protection” Programme [5], where customers who sign up during the promotional period may enjoy up to 50% extra coverage for the basic sum insured during the first 20 years of the policy, providing extra support during their prime.

Critical Illness Support Programme

Apart from financial support, as the partner along the journey fighting critical illness, AXA Hong Kong offers a full range of value-added services to choose from across the stages of prevention, treatment and rehabilitation for those insured under the “HealthVital II Major Illness Plan” and “HealthSelect II Major Illness Plan”, tailored to meet their specific needs.

After the policy is successfully issued, customers can benefit from diabetes DNA screening, with suggested precautions to reduce the chance of developing diabetes and its complications. There are also tailored medical check-up plans for juvenile, male and female customers to help them better understand their health condition and to diagnose potential health issues.

The plans offer attentive services that help ease customers’ and their families’ stress and anxiety as they face health issues, including specialist consultations, Chinese herbalist consultations and counselling services to help relieve the physical and mental discomfort arising from lengthy treatment. Moreover, outpatient transportation and escort services are also provided for customers to choose from. AXA Hong Kong is also the first insurer in town to offer aquatic therapy to help customers speed up the healing process.
