AXA Hong Kong launches “Lifelong Care Partner Insurance” to address the widening protection gap of the aging population

AXA Hong Kong proudly launches the “Lifelong Care Partner Insurance”, tailored to protect Hong Kong’s rapidly aging population against the widening protection gap in social support and long-term care services. According to government statistics, the average life expectancy of a 40-year-old person in Hong Kong will reach 82.9 (males) / 88.3 (females)* by 2019. However, recent news reports show there is insufficient social support available for the aging population. To address this vital societal need for long-term care, AXA Hong Kong is taking active steps to support customers and their families with an innovative product that offers both financial and long-term care service support as they adjust to the changing demands of aging, reinforcing the company’s commitment to support long-term care in Hong Kong.

The plan is holistically developed to provide support throughout the aging journey, from “prevention” to “transition” to “remain comfortably at home”. Lifelong Care Partner Insurance provides attentive support and services, enabling our customers and their beloved family to:

  • Relieve financial burden: Principal monthly benefit
  • Live comfortably at home: Home modification consultation and subsidy
  • Relieve pressure on caregiving: Training programme for the caregiver
  • Prevent illness before it strikes: Diabetes DNA screening and dementia early detection screening

Prevention
Prevention aims to increase the insured’s awareness of health issues so that important precautionary measures can be taken, with the plan offering free screening tests for key diseases, such as diabetes DNA screening and dementia early detection screening.

Ms. Bonnie Lui, Chief Life and Product Proposition Officer, AXA Hong Kong, said, “While longer lifespans give us more time to enjoy our life with loved ones, they inevitably come with greater health risks. Unforeseeable circumstances arising from serious illnesses, accidental injuries or aging can affect the living standards for us and our family. Our newly launched ‘Lifelong Care Partner Insurance’ is designed to address the protection gap for aging customers and ease the stress their families face, particularly in terms of long-term care treatments and the pressure it brings to various aspects of their daily lives.”

Transition
In the event where the insured is certified with loss of autonomy, sustained and immediate financial support will be provided to help the insured and their families overcome any challenges and difficulties that arise from the situation. Sustained financial support covers day-to-day expenses and long-term medical treatment costs, while additional immediate pecuniary assistance takes care of other urgent needs of caregivers, dependent children or parents.

Remain comfortably at home
This is another core element to enable the elderly customers to live a happy life. With the aim to lighten the load for caretakers on the long-term care journey, tailored support is offered for caregivers to equip them with the relevant techniques and advice needed while the patients can receive optimal care.

Taking into consideration the insured’s and his/her family’s needs, home modification subsidy and consultation are also offered to help patients and their families get through the long-term care journey at home with comfort.
