AXA Hong Kong collaborates with HSBC to introduce "FirstCare Plus Medical Insurance"

Offering medical insurance to people of all budgets and requirements
Issued for all ages up to 80 years old, with simplified underwriting

The medical insurance market can be difficult for consumers to navigate and compare value. There are many plans in the market and consumers often find it difficult to select the most suitable medical insurance plan. Therefore, we have designed a plan with options and wide coverage to help meet their needs.

“FirstCare Plus Medical Insurance” (FirstCare Plus) will be distributed by HSBC. It provides five plan options with different ranges of overall annual benefit limits[1], and options for free checkups and medical services to suit the medical needs of customers of all ages with their own affordability. Basic, Saver and Standard plans offer high accessibility for the mass market, whilst Enhanced and Top plans provide greater coverage for those who demand more comprehensive levels of protection.

Etienne Bouas-Laurent, Chief Executive Officer, AXA Hong Kong, said, “Health is a key focus in our business strategy and we strive to champion innovation in health and protection. To us, protection is not just a product, but more about serving the needs of customers at different life stages – from prevention to treatment to recovery – so that our customers will never walk alone. FirstCare Plus offers more quality and a more personalised and much simpler experience for customers, demonstrating our strong commitment to being their health partner. Since 2012, HSBC has been our proprietary banking distribution partner. We have built this product together to best meet the needs of our shared customers. It represents the beginning of a closer business relationship with more to come.”

Greg Hingston, Head of Retail Banking and Wealth Management, HSBC Hong Kong, said, “As our personal circumstances change, it is important to safeguard the future so we can stay worry-free about being able to meet our ever-changing needs and goals. Customers are now more aware that medical expenses can become prohibitive, and are increasingly proactive in looking for comprehensive medical protection which can give more flexibility. HSBC is pleased to collaborate with our general insurance partner AXA to make medical insurance more accessible to Hong Kong people by offering a straightforward and easy to comprehend product with access to high quality medical services. This is also an integral part of our commitment to delivering a simpler, better and faster experience to meet customers’ protection needs.”

Full cover up to overall annual benefit limits[1] and market-first AXA Signature Network

FirstCare Plus provides a policy basis of “full cover up to overall annual benefit limit[1] within the AXA Signature Network” with worldwide coverage (excluding U.S.A.). This ensures that all eligible expenses are covered, subject to the overall annual benefit limit[1] as specified in the policy schedule, ranging from HKD250K to HKD5M depending on the level of coverage selected by the customer. Comprehensive cover for cancer treatment and renal dialysis is one of the key features for all levels of plans. Customers will enjoy the enhanced benefits through the AXA Signature Network which comprises top-notch hospitals including Gleneagles Hong Kong Hospital, Hong Kong Baptist Hospital, Hong Kong Sanatorium & Hospital, Matilda International Hospital and Union Hospital.

Simplified procedures and second medical opinions by authoritative experts

FirstCare Plus offers customers fast and simple ways for planning their treatment with hassle-free recovery and cashless treatment experience. Within the AXA Signature Network, customers can simply present their FirstCare Plus medical card and personal identification document to the selected healthcare facilities, and the network doctor will help to apply for the cashless arrangement with AXA. This means customers can focus on recovery and enjoy cashless treatment and direct billing experience so long as the amount is within the overall annual benefit limits[1] and the pre-authorised limit, under the condition that the treatment is medically necessary. The plan also supports customers to obtain a second medical opinion, covered by the plan option. Customers with certain major critical illnesses such as cancer can request access to local medical experts for an independent second opinion with just one phone call.

Easily access emergency assistance

FirstCare Plus also provides worldwide emergency assistance. Wherever the customer needs emergency assistance, they can call the Worldwide Emergency and Medical Helpline anytime, through which they can obtain appropriate assistance for hospitalisation deposit in the event of overseas hospitalisation, legal referral, medical and travel information.
