Enhanced Policy Coverage and Preventive Measures

The outbreak of the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) continues to escalate, with cases confirmed in Hong Kong and Macau. As a customer-oriented company, AXA Hong Kong and Macau is now offering the following enhanced coverage and services to its customers until further notice¹.

Additional hospital cash benefit

If insured persons with AXA Life Insurance or Medical policies, or insured employees and dependents of Employee Benefits hospitalisation policies, are hospitalised at Intensive Care Unit (ICU) due to a confirmed case of COVID-19 infection, AXA will provide an additional daily hospital cash benefit of HKD1,500 for a period of up to 45 days (from now until 31 December 2020), without waiting period.

24-hour customer service hotline

24-hour customer service hotline (852-2894 4701) has been set up to answer customer queries about the COVID-19.

For AXA Medical insurance or Employee Benefits customers

If you are suspected of contracting, or are confirmed to have contracted the COVID-19, you do not need to apply for pre-authorisation for hospital admission in Hong Kong, Macau and Mainland China and can also apply for any related claims.

If you are admitted to an isolation ward in a hospital in Hong Kong, Macau or Mainland China due to a suspected or confirmed case of COVID-19 infection, you are still entitled to claim eligible medical expenses regardless of the type of hospital ward.

If you are admitted to a private hospital that requires COVID-19 admission screening test, you can submit the claim for the relevant fee of the admission screening together with your in-patient hospital expenses benefits after discharging from hospital.

For AXA Employee Benefits customers

You can enjoy the coverage of teleconsultations under General Consultation and Specialist Consultation, so that you may receive the necessary medical care while staying home².

For AXA Travel Insurance customers

If you decided to cancel your trip to anywhere in the world outside Hong Kong, you can apply for premium refund for the Single Trip SmartTraveller Plus/ SmartTraveller policy purchased.

For AXA Home Contents Insurance customers

We offer additional ‘Cleaning and Sanitising Benefit’ to designated home contents insurance customers for free. If you or anyone living with you at the insured address is tested positive for COVID-19 during the coverage period, we will reimburse your home cleaning and sanitising expense as an immediate support to you and your family. (Coverage period from now until 31 January 2021)

More products added to Digital Enrolment Process for easier access to insurance protection from home

We understand the utmost importance of safety and convenience for our customers. Starting from 1 April, we have enhanced our Digital Enrolment Process³ to cover more insurance products.

In Addition to the tax-deductible products including Voluntary Health Insurance Scheme (VHIS) and Qualifying Deferred Annuity Policies (QDAP), the Digital Enrolment Process also includes newly added products including Medical Protection, Cancer & Stroke Therapy, Long-term Care Cover and Term Plans, also with the extension to Precious Mom and Child Insurance for pregnant ladies. 

Hong Kong residents can easily apply while staying home. Our Financial Consultants will explain to customers about the products and documents over the phone, and collect documents via electronic means such as WhatsApp or email. Alternatively, customers can also choose to submit their applications by mail. We also offer the possibility for Hong Kong residents to purchase VHIS plans directly online.

Extension of Policy Premium Grace Period

In light of the ongoing spread of the novel coronavirus, we are conscious of the potential payment disruptions caused by the outbreak.  With our customers’ interests and wellbeing at heart, AXA is extending the premium payment grace period for all our current in-force individual life insurance policies⁴.

For policy premium due on or before 31 October 2020, the grace period of premium payment will be extended from 30 days to 90 days from the premium due date.

In view of the entry restrictions imposed on visitors travelling from mainland China to Hong Kong, the grace period of premium payment for our mainland Chinese policyholders will be further extended to 90 days from the premium due date or 31 October 2020, whichever is later.

    People at high risk, such as the elderly, chronically ill, and people with poor resistance; people with fever, cold symptoms, or people staying at crowded places, should choose surgical masks and wash their hands before wearing masks. The color of the mask should face outwards, with the iron wired side facing up. When wearing, make sure to mould the iron wire to fit the nose and cover the mouth, nose and chin completely. It is not recommended to wear anti-pollen and N95 masks. Put your used mask in a plastic bag before disposal.

    Wash your hands with soap and water when washing your hands. Rub your hands with soap for at least 20 seconds. Pay special attention to your fingers and wrists to ensure that your hands are thoroughly cleaned. If you do not have access to hand-washing facilities, you can use alcohol hand rub instead. It is recommended to use a product with an alcohol concentration of 70-78%, which can effectively kill bacteria and viruses up to 99%.

    When coughing or sneezing, do not cover your mouth and nose with your palms, because bacteria can easily stick to your palms and spread with human-to-human interaction or contaminate the objects you contact. The proper way is to cover your nose and mouth with your arm or paper towel and this can prevent the spread of droplet bacteria more effectively. Remember to perform hand hygiene immediately after cleaning your nose and mouth.
